Making small changes in the way you do things in everyday life can add up to a positive effect in the weight loss you so desire. A few healthy changes can shed pounds of unwanted fat and increase the stamina that you have lost from a sedentary lifestyle.
Pick only a few changes to start with and test them for the benefits and the results that they render. If they don’t reveal positive benefits, then change them to other short-term goals.
- Fill your plate with fruits and vegetables prepared in a healthy manner. Five servings a day is the recommended daily consumption. This proves to be more productive in weight loss than counting fat consumption.
- Protein proves to increase the energy level and this helps cover those cravings for foods that would be detrimental to your goals to lose weight. Nutritionists have found that eating 2 to 3 oz. of protein a day spikes energy and this increases the fat metabolism that lasts for hours.
- Instead of going after that second plate of food, go for a salad instead and this will keep those hunger pains away plus you don’t get the extra calories to burn.
- Use physics games to play in your mind that you are getting more food than you really are i. e. spread your food on a large plate, and drink out of a tall glass instead of a short one this plays on the mental focus of how we perceive food and the amount that we are getting.
- Drink plenty of water to help with the distraction of hunger or just when we think we’re hungry.
- Eating breakfast is not just for kids. It is the most important meal of the day and jump-starts the brain. If breakfast is passed by, the sluggish feelings attack in a few hours then candy or some empty calorie food is sought and this is harmful in the battle with the blug.
- Carbohydrates should be eaten in the morning so they can be burnt off with the activities of the day. When ingested at night, it is all stored as fat and it doesn’t take long to accumulate.
- Use spices to spice up your meals this helps relay messages to the brain that satisfaction is not too far away and it helps to add flavor to a boring dish. Spices like cinnamon is a antioxidants, lemon juice water helps reduce excess water weight, and chili powder, hot peppers, and curry can boost any meal and add flavor to meats.
- Change mayo for yogurt or mustard and this eliminates those extra unnecessary calories plus gives the food a different zing.
- Change the way you do things. Instead of looking for the easy way out choose the one that requires more effort.
For instance, take the stairs, walk at lunch even if it is for only 10 minutes, start doing outside work like mowing the lawn and keeping the lawn neat, and wake the morning with stretching exercises and deep breathing to get the oxygen to the brain.
Set short easy-to-reach goals so that disappointment is not another hurdle to overcome. Keep telling yourself just a couple of more pounds or I want to get in that size 6 dress or jeans. If you set high goals then the chances of you succeeding are slim.
You need to make this a life-changing event, not one where you lose a couple of pounds then turn around and gain them plus some back. This would really set one back to have to start over with more baggage than they started with in the first place.
This can set you back and can hinder you from dieting or changing the way you consume food and the preparation of food can make a huge difference.
So, don’t look at it as a diet but a new life, and the new age is taking over. You will feel better for it and will increase your confidence in yourself because you did what you set out to do and pride usually follows that as well.
There is nothing that makes you feel better about yourself than accomplishing something as hard as losing weight.
But then again there is nothing that makes you feel better about yourself than shedding those extra pounds that are hindering you from the clothes that you want to be wearing.
